Act 1 Thoughts

Act one clearly lays hints to what will happen in the next few acts. I like that way he starts out the story by showing how much the two families hate each other. And that the anger between them is so great that even the slaves hate each other, even though they aren't related to the family in any way. But besides that the play is sorta boring. There is the occasional joke that is hard to see funny, but besides that it is boring. What really annoys me is the way that one line they talk like normal, well sorta, then the next they are talking in poetic lines that are full of puns and double meanings making what they are saying hard to follow. What I did like though is the development of the plot line. Like one minute Romeo is in love with Rosaline then the next he is in love with Juliet. To me though the whole story, to me, is not very interesting. It really feels like a romance novel, which I know it is in a way, and that is not what I like to read, so I am not all that interested in the story yet.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas Ch. 17- 20

Chapters 17 and 18 start with Bruno overhearing mother and father talking about going back to Berlin. And they both decide that the kids and mother should go back to Berlin and the father must stay because of the camp. Also in these chapters it tells that Bruno doesn't really care if they go back or not. It also says that Samuel's father is missing and he doesn't know where he is. So both boys decide to go and look for him on Samuel's side of the fence.

Chapter 19 and 20 is starts with Bruno changing into the stripes pajamas and going into the camp. When they turn up with no clues to find Samuel's father Bruno decides to go back to the house when they are both sent on a march, which no one returns back from. They are both walked up some starirs woth other people into a dark room. Then Samuel apologize to Bruno but bruno doesn't her it amont the noise. When chaos broke out. and then silence. But among it BRuno never let go of Samuel's hand even after death. Then in chapter 20 it is just about how no on know where Bruno when to. Until father goes to where they find Bruno's clothing and realize that he could get under the fence and then connects the dots to find out that he probally was killed in the camp. I have to say thought that this ending is just weard and creepy. But also very sad.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas Ch. 13-16

In chapters 13 and 14 it starts off with life as usual for Bruno with the occasional visits to Samuel. A bit later Lt. Kolter is with Bruno and his family and having dinner. When Kolter asks for some wine. But when Pavel went to fill his glass the bottle slipped and fell into Kolter's lap and completely dumped on his lap. Then Kolter got up and doesn't reallt say what happens next. Chapter 14 Bruno kept going to the fence to talk to Samuel. Most of this chapter is really not anything exepct that Bruno lies to his sister about not knowing Samuel and saying that he has in invisiable friend.

Chapters 15 and 16 satarts with Bruno apologizing to SAmuel for lieing about knowing him. After that it is just normal life until the mother fids out that the kids have lice and need to get treated. Gretil uses a shampoo to get them out and Bruno gets his head shaved. Over all these chapter aren't doeing anything execpt setting up for the climax.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas Ch. 9-12

Chapters 9 and 10 are about Bruno wanting to explore but having nowhere to explore. So he decides to go to the fence that his parents said not to. When arriving at the fence he finds a boy names Samuel. So he decides to talk to the boy. After introducing himself and getting to know him he goes back to his house for dinner and not to get in trouble.

Chapters 11 and 12 start to talk about how Bruno's father got the job at the camp. It talks about how they Fury came and was really rude to him and his family. After the explanation he goes back to his friend Samuel. Where he then asks him why he is on the other side of the fence. And Samuel comes up with an answer that he is on that side because he is a jew and the soldiers hate jews.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas Ch. 5-8

In chapter 5 it starts off with Bruno listening to his father talking to some of his men about discipline and other things to do with the camp "Out-With". After the men leave Bruno goes down to his dads office to talk to him. When he get down there he starts talking to his dad about the move to the new house. Saying that it was a bad choice an they should move back. But his father disagrees with him. So the argue for a while going back and forth. Once the argument ends Bruno storms out of the office angry.

In chapter 6 Bruno talks to the maid about his father saying he is dumb. Right after he says that the maid yells at him saying that his father is very kind and to never say that. So Bruno says that he doesn't get how she can say that. So the maid tells him about what his father did for her when she was young and didn't have a job. Once she explained it to Bruno he said that he never knew that and was sorry for saying that.

Chapter 7 Bruno makes a swing to pass the time. After making it he starts to push him self off the tree but he was going too high. So he fell off the swing. His leg got caught on the swing though so Bruno was dragged across the ground scratching up his arm and knee. The butler ran over and helps him into the house where he cleaned and patched up his cuts. Right then his mother got home. So she sent Bruno upstairs to tell the butler that if anyone asks she cleaned him up.

Finally chapter 8 says why Bruno's grandmother is angry at his father. There really isn't much to this but it says that she feels it is her fault that Bruno's father is a nazi because she dressed him up like oone when he was young. And now that he is a real nazi she hates him for doing all of the things he does to the jews.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas Ch. 1-4

The book starts out with Bruno coming home to see his family packing. He is slightly angry that a maid for his family is packing his stuff and might find his things that he keeps for himself in the back of his wardrobe. He then asks his mother why are we packing. His mother tells him that they are packing because his father got a new job and are moving to a new house to make his job easier to commute to. So for a while it talks about how he loves his house and why he wants to stay. So he finally starts to pack. They finally leave the house and arrive at the new house. Bruno doesn't like the house because it is small with nowhere to explore. While he is unpacking his sister comes in and talks to him. When she goes away he looks out the window and looks to see what there is. After looking out he goes to his sister and talks to her about what he saw out the window. When she asks what he means he just walks to his window and she follows to see. When they look out they see the yard and a very tall fence with barbwire at the top of it. Past that there are people in stripes "pajamas" walking around covered in dirt. They think that the people are just poor and don't know why they are there. My reaction to this is that it is sorta funny that they have no idea that the people are in a concentration camp.
